A Friday to Remember

This weekend was by far the best weekend I have had yet in Eugene: Just a simple weekend hanging out with close friends celebrating a birthday.
Friday was Alexis's Birthday and we all got together to celebrate it in the best way possible.
Here is what our weekend consisted of:
Birthday Girl!

A trip to Sweet Life, only the best dessert place in Eugene ever!  It was so overwhelming walking into this place with every type of dessert imaginable, I was definitely stressin over what I was going to choose.

We probably spent at least 2 hours here, just talking and telling funny stories and enjoying each others company.

Going to the movies and seeing, "I am Number Four" in which we had:
Ashley and Stacey on one end of the row, scared like no other
Kendall and Haley just in awh of everything the movie had to offer
Alexis simply just lovin life
Lauren and I on the end dying of laughter at the corniness and cheesiness of the movie.

I think we could all agree though that "Number Four" can make one good lookin' Alien.

Blasting Justin Beiber in the car and singing to it at the top of our lungs; just as if we were in high school again

And sadly the rest of my weekend consisted of studying and writing a 7 page paper for my religious studies class..blehh :/

GRACE

Recently I have had a situation thrown at me that I did not want to handle or deal with.  I knew this was something I needed to deal with and that it was going to be tough but  I knew that through grace I could do it.  Through gods grace I handled the situation right.  So I thought I would share some versus that just mean a lot to me and helped me to deal with it.

"God always gives you all the grace you need. So you will only have to suffer for a little while. Then God himself will build you up again. He will make you strong and steady. And he has chosen you to share in his eternal glory because you belong to Christ"
1 Peter 5:10

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
2 Corinthians 9:8

Also I know at least for me that things have not really been going my way.  In general I seem to have the worst of luck and it seems this year more than ever.  It is often times hard not to think "Why does this always happen to me?"  What did I do to deserve this? Whats wrong with me?  I think the thing that helps me out the most is knowing that everything happens for a reason and that god has a plan for me.  I have learned a great deal of lessons and continue to everyday.  You just need to make  a crappy situation into a good one and just move on knowing that you are a better and stronger person because of it.

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"

"God has a purpose for you that is held in his heart god has a path for you that is paved with his grace."

Catherine Gebhardt also gave me this bible verse and it is possibly one of my favorite ones,
‎"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." -Jeremiah 29:11

A Visitor: FINALLY!

2 weekends ago my sister Kristin came to visit!  My first visitor since moving in!  I was super excited to get to show her my dorm room and the life that I had made for myself away from home in Eugene, Oregon.  We fit a lot into one weekend:

1. Kristin got her cartilage pierced
2. Initiated her into being a Duck Fan at the Civil War Basketball Game (got her into the student section...thank you Lauren Dennis!)
 3. Getting lost in Eugene for 2 hours trying to find a store
4. A night out
5. A trip to Portland
6. A trip to Autzen Stadium and Hayward Field
GO DUCKS
7. A trip to the Duck store
8. A trip to the Original House of Pancakes :)
9. And a personal tour of our gorgeous campus

Day 6: WPC

Procrastinating on studying for my math midterm, I was looking through old pictures and came across this one:

Last night of fugitive with the crew before our friend Ben went off to the Coast Guard Academy.
Summer 2010
As I look at this picture I realize how much I am missing home right now and my WPC family.  Westminster Presbyterian Church is the church I have grown up in.  This community and fellowship of this church has given me more than I can ever describe.  There are simply no words to describe the love that is etched into ever corner of this place and throughout all the people.  Being away at college I have really missed this tight nit group of brothers and sisters in christ and have been longing to find something like this in college, as I know will come with time....

So this is why am am thankful for WPC: because it has made me who I am today and has given me a second family that I love immensely!
JUST A SECOND FOOL!
